Day 13 of 30 Day Shred – I Guess I Need to Go Bathing Suit Shopping

I’m spending a few days this week visiting my parents in Florida, which of course means I won’t necessarily be spending as much time exercising, but I’m at least making sure to make time for the Shred DVD each morning.  Yesterday I did the Shred before I left town, but didn’t get a run in.  This morning, I thought I’d do the Shred, get in a short run (my sister has a treadmill in her room at my parents’ house, so I didn’t have to worry about the crazy Florida sun, which was super hot by 8:00 this morning), and then jump into the pool for a nice swim.

Well, I haven’t been bathing suit shopping since before my honeymoon (2009).  Like any girl, I loathe bathing suit shopping, but I find it particularly harrowing because I tend to need different sizes on the top and bottom, and it’s always hard to find the right sizes in pieces that match each other.  I haven’t had either of my suits on since last summer’s FL visit, so I assumed they would fit and just tossed them in my suitcase.

Imagine my surprise this morning when I put on a suit and, while the bottoms still fit, the top was loose.  Like WAY too loose.  Like definitely going to be embarrassing if worn in public kind of loose, even on the hook that makes it smallest around the back.  So, it’s official… I have definitely lost some inches around my back, because the tops on both suits were way too big around the back.

I didn’t want to go without swimming, so I just decided to wear my red Georgia Bulldogs sports bra with my black bottoms… kind of a create-your-own two-piece.  The sports bra actually worked great, but now I definitely know I’ll need to go suit shopping before I go on my next beachy vacation.

Is there anything you can think of to make bathing suit shopping bearable?

    Alcohol and a blindfold?

Really, the internet. I order suits, try them on in the privacy of my bedroom and then send back what doesn’t fit or isn’t flattering. Anything to avoid fluorescent lighting and tiny cubicles.
